Great Western Trains - The First Early Warning of Privatisation

Join this channel to get early access to new videos a week ahead of their public release: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC8R7kmt-W14zWUcr8mymEQ/join Good morning! :D Launched on the same day as Southwest Trains, Great Western Trains was the first private franchise of the InterCity sector to emerge during the fraught and fragmented privatisation process, and while it would only last two years, and present one of the most iconic liveries ever applied to its trains, the company would become a test case for all that was wrong with privatisation, including blame culture, a disjointed and frustrating passenger experience, and deficiencies in practices that ultimately led to tragedy. Special thanks to Liam Dale for allowing me to use some of his footage from his superb Brunel and Stephenson documentary, which can be found at the following location: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWZodTiExDo&t=2s I would also like to thank the good folks at the UK HST Enthusiast Facebook group who very kindly provided me with information on Great Western Trains' fleet of InterCity 125s.
