In a chamber in Knowth Passage Tomb in Ireland is of what seems to be a humpback whale expelling a water spout. Whales must have been strange creatures to the Neolithic seafarers of the Atlantic coasts. The biggest creatures in existence passing by at certain times of the year, perhaps beaching themselves on occasion, must have inspired awe and respect.
